What is Belly Binding?
Modern Belly Binding for Postpartum Recovery
Belly binding, also known as postpartum belly binding, is a supportive postpartum practice that uses a long cloth wrap to provide gentle abdominal support after birth. At Belly Binding Bangkok, belly binding is combined with massage, breathing guidance, and personalized care as part of a modern postpartum recovery program.
More Than Just a Wrap
Belly binding is only one part of recovery. Our approach combines breathing, bodywork, and personalized support to help mothers feel more comfortable and supported during their recovery journey.
The 3B Method
Breathing • Bodywork • Belly Binding
Our 3B Method combines breathing guidance, therapeutic bodywork, and belly binding to support postpartum recovery. Bodywork may include abdominal massage, lower body massage, and other hands-on techniques tailored to your individual needs.
The Double Knot Method
At Belly Binding Bangkok, we draw from modern belly binding techniques learned in Hong Kong, including the Double Knot Method developed by Master Regine Chan.
This technique allows the wrap to be adjusted according to a mother’s body shape, recovery stage, and support needs.
As every mother’s body is different, the most appropriate binding technique is selected based on individual assessment and recovery needs.
Understanding Relaxin After Birth
During pregnancy, the body produces a hormone called relaxin, which helps prepare the body for birth by increasing flexibility in the joints and soft tissues.
Because relaxin may remain in the body for several months postpartum, many practitioners consider this an ideal time to support recovery. During this period, the body may be more responsive to supportive practices such as breathing guidance, bodywork, and belly binding as mothers reconnect with their core and posture after birth.
When Can I Start Belly Binding?
Most mothers can begin belly binding from around 4 weeks postpartum after a vaginal birth, or at least 8 weeks after a C-section.
As every recovery journey is different, the ideal timing may vary from mother to mother.
Benefits of Belly Binding?
Many mothers choose belly binding to:
• Feel more supported during recovery
• Improve posture and body awareness
• Support daily comfort and movement
• Feel more confident in their postpartum body
